What’s the deal with Red Velvet Cake? Isn’t it just red coloured chocolate cake? Or is it a Southern speciality that has to be served with cream cheese icing. Or does it have to be served with a boiled icing? What’s the best way to colour it red? Natural chemistry? Beetle? Bottle of red dye #5? What’s the best interpretation of this cake? Is it best in cupcake, cake pop, or traditional form? Does it require pecans? Or are the inclusion of pecans an abomination?
Why do we love this cake so? Or hate it with such venom?
How can one simple cake inspire so much debate?
